Mind and Medicine Inc. aims to serve you and your mental health needs in an integrated and comprehensive manner. We provide patient care as well as consultative services to other mental health providers in the community. By utilizing telemedicine, psychotherapy, and psychopharmacology, clients can find the path most suited for their needs. As mental health continues to exist in a shroud of stigma and uncertainty, we recognize the importance of compassion when delivering psychiatric care. We are committed to serve every client with respect and dignity. We firmly believe that engaging clients in their own health choices is key in healing and thriving. Badalin Helvink, M.D.
Badalin Helvink, M.D. is an adult and geriatric psychiatrist with over 20 years of experience. She works closely with clients to provide insightful consultations personalized to each individual's needs. Her philosophy of care engages the client to utilize psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, and coaching. She is motivated to help clients find balance and healing through an integrative approach.
Dr. Helvink completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She is board certified in both psychiatry and in geriatric psychiatry. She is also a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Helvink has extensive leadership experience having served as Chairperson of the Department of Psychiatry at Naples Community Hospital in Naples, Florida. She currently serves as the Chairperson for the Department of Psychiatry at Palomar Health. She remains active in medical staff committees, won multiple awards, and was Physician of the Year for the Palomar Health District in 2016. She resides with her family and dog, Max, in Encinitas, California. She enjoys traveling and the arts.
Heather H.
Business Development and client relations Associate
Heather joined Mind and Medicine Inc. in June 2018. She graduated with a B.A. in Global Health from the University of California, San Diego. Her experience includes working in the emergency department and inpatient mental health services for the Palomar Health system where her roles included being scribe lead, scribe trainer, and medical records clinician. She also worked as a research assistant for the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine Center for Gender Equity and Health. Heather is passionate about mental health awareness, mindfulness practice, and research involving women's health issues around the globe. She is presently enrolled in a Postbaccalaureate Program at Columbia University and aspires to pursue a career in medicine. She lives in New York City, enjoys spending time with her dog Bodhi, and traveling.
Sarah B.
Clinical and Patient Care Coordinator
Sarah joined Mind and Medicine Inc. in March 2022. She graduated with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies major; with an emphasis in Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology at San Diego State University. She played Division 1 soccer at SDSU, and was captain of her team for two years. She is passionate about spreading mental health awareness and support for those who need it. She has volunteer experience as a Crisis Text Line counselor, a wellness peer leader supporting student-athletes, and participating in mental health awareness panels. She concurrently works as a psychiatric medical scribe at Palomar Health and is an aspiring psychiatrist. She lives in San Diego and in her free time enjoys exploring new restaurants, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing by the ocean.
